If you are considering applying to OSD, are unfamiliar with the guild or simply want to know more about us and what we require of each individual, please read this post in full as it contains important information on our raiding practice and the guild.

Recruitment Status
For potential applicants, the first thing you need to check is whether there is space on our raid roster for your class/spec. This information is found in the Raid Recruitment Status post. Or alternatively, for players wishing to apply for Social Membership, check the Social Recruitment Status post.

Raiding Requirements
There are few basic addons and software items that are required for raiding with OSD. If you are interested in raiding with us, the following addons are mandatory:

  • Deadly Boss Mods (or any other widely accepted boss-mods addon, such as Bigwigs)
  • Ora2 (general raid admin mod - participant part is sufficient)
  • Omen (threat meter)

You will also require Teamspeak in order to utilize voice chat. There is no need to possess a microphone, we do not expect nor need you to speak in any situation.  However, should you be able and willing to communicate using voice chat, it will be a bonus to your trial and of benefit to the raid as a whole. It is infact mostly beneficial to keep Vent completely clear for Officers and Raid Leaders to communicate information to the whole raid quicker and with less interuption, just remember that Raid Leaders will require use of voice chat with more urgency than most other players. For raiding, but also for all other guild purposes, we speak in English. We do have members who can speak many other languages but should you wish to join us you will require a developed comprehension and understanding of the English language.

Application Process
If you are interested in applying, copy and paste the Application Form into a new post with your character name, class and level in the title in the Open Applications section. Fill out the application form to the best of your ability, do not tackle it half-heartedly as that is an immediate negative on your part in showing the amount of effort you're willing to commit to the guild. Answer any subsequent questions put to you in a prompt and mature manner and we will get back to you with a decision.

Also, we have a minimum age policy of 16 years of age. This is mainly due to most of the guild being older and some of the language/humour that can occur from time to time either in Guild Chat, or more likely, in Raid Chat, being not suitable for people under this age. Guild Chat is kept clean on the whole, but we cannot guarantee that such a level will be maintained 100% of the time.

If your application is accepted, be it for raid or social membership, you can whisper any of the following people below for your invite to the guild. There will be at least one on nearly all the time.

Guild Masters

  • Atrius
  • Morbidangel

Officers

  • Mandinz
  • Mingnotbling
  • Dethe
  • Oski
  • Pherenike
  • Anya
  • Kuolema
  • Kilobank
  • Taniquetil

The trial period for every applicant is 4 weeks in duration. We reserve the right to extend your trial should we feel this is appropriate, or to put it on hold should you request or should an unexplained absence occur.

At the end of the 4 week trial period, Officers and Guild Masters will decide the outcome of your trial. A successful trial will grant full membership, either raid or social depending upon which type your original application was. A failed trial will result in one of two outcomes. You can decide to leave the guild should you fail your trial...OR...in the case of a raid trial, you may be offered a social membership. Should the second option occur, you can re-apply for a raid membership at a later date.

Raiding Practice
No one is forced to raid as we are not a hardcore raiding guild, but seeing as it's a raid position we are looking for some sort of reasonable attendance. You're raid member status will not be under threat should you have low attendance if you have acceptable reasons. However if you consistently remain at little or no attendance, you may be demoted to member. We can accomodate many reasons for low attendance if you make the Officer Team aware of your situation. All prolonged absences (generally of 1 week+) should be brought to an Officer or Guild Master's attention using the Notifications For Absence section. Any unexplained absence may result in the demotion of your character and/or a re-trial.

We expect raid members to gem and enchant their character(s) to their best potential and attempt to improve their individual play at any given opportunity. Many members do this naturally, and it is only fair that those people raid with like-minded individuals. Any raid member not showing such commitment to our raiding practice will be asked to research improvements to their character or their play and implement them. Unusual gem choices can be justified (mainly for healers/caster DPS and tanks) but there is no excuse for completely unenchanted items if there are enchants readily available. Any member not performing to an acceptable standard will firstly be offered help and assistance, but prolonged issues will result in demotion, or a failed raid trial should you currently be undertaking one. We want to offer you the chance to improve, but if you do not take it, we are left with no alternative.

Offspecs are a large part of creating a flexible raid. Every hybrid class should be able to fulfill two different roles, preferably comprising of a DPS spec and a healing or tanking spec. It is mandatory that when asked to switch specs by a Raid Leader, Officer or Guild Master that you comply with their request. Any member consistently not putting effort into an offspec will be warned and asked to look into the issue. After several warnings where by the raider does not comply, action will be taken in the form of a demotion, or other action which could include being removed from raids in preference of a raider who can fulfill your role. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule, certain priests that wish to spec for both discipline and holy healing obviously cannot spec for DPS, but for most players a secondary DPS spec is possible.

Upon your trial membership there is an internal post which provides more detail on our raiding rules, please take time to search for and read it.

We use the in-game calendar to notify our raiders of upcoming events. We encourage you to use the in-game system by signing up to or declining individual events to allow raid leaders to gauge group set-up prior to beginning raid invites.

We currently run 25-man and 10-man raids throughout the week (all times are server time, GMT+1):

Wednesday 25-man - 20:30 invites|~21:00 raid begin*|00:00 raid end - (main lead is Alakabam)

Thursday 10-man - 20:30 invites|~21:00 raid begin*|00:00 raid end - (main lead will either be Kuolema)

Friday - day off - this day may be used for 10-man progression runs as and when needed.

Saturday - day off

Sunday 25-man - 20:30 invites|~21:00 raid begin*|00:00 raid end - (main lead is Oceanz)

Monday 25-man - 20:30 invites|~21:00 raid begin*|00:00 raid end - (main lead is Kuolema/Pherenike)

Tuesday 10-man - 20:30 invites|~21:00 raid begin*|00:00 raid end - (main lead will be Kuolema)

*the raid start time is at the raid leaders discretion, if a full group is formed before 21:00, the raid can and will be started earlier

DKP and attendance levels are only regarding the 25-man raids, the 10-man raids do not have any DKP system in place and are entirely optional. Being a raid member first and foremost means attending 25-man raids, although 10-man raids will obviously enhance your character and provide you with focused practice on encounters that we may tackle in 25-man raids.

Consumables are mandatory. The Guild Bank can only offer you a certain limit on the number of flasks you may be given in one night, so attending a raid with a stack of your own flasks or other consumables such as BiS food or elixirs is recommended.

The Guild Bank (in relation to raiding practice)
There are a few simple rules regarding the in-game Guild Bank.

Firstly, the use of the Free-for-all tab is as stated. All members are welcome to take/place items in this tab which they feel may be of any use to other members, no matter how small. Simply putting junk in this tab will not be allowed, please ensure that what you place in the tab is at least partially useful.

Secondly, the use of Guild Bank resources such as requesting BoE gear, enchant materials or consumables, is designed for raiding purposes and as such raid members will be given priority in requesting these items. Social members are welcome to request materials etc. but should be aware that raid members will be given preference should conflicting requests be placed.

The Guild Bank funds are solely for use in creating or purchasing consumables and other beneficial items and we do not operate a repair bill function, you must pay for those yourself.

DKP
Our DKP system at present is EPGP. More explanation here.
